Common sense legislation..

“A conservative (really?) German politician on Wednesday proposed making marriage contracts expire after seven years, with the option to renew for those not feeling the proverbial itch.
“I propose that marriages lapse after seven years,” Gabriele Pauli told reporters in Munich, the capital of the largely Catholic southern state of Bavaria.

“This would mean that one will only commit for a fixed period and will actively have to renew your vows if you still want to continue.”

Pauli, 50, has been divorced twice.”

I know it’s just a proposal, but still what an idiotic idea.

In a related topic, check this article out: Young Egyptian couples in a hurry tie temporary knot. It seems like most people are getting married for the ‘intimacy’ part and not for the covenant and commitment part. Here’s another sad statistic.

God bless.

  1. Sadly marriage is not taken seriously anymore, I agree with you that these ideas are totally idiotic. People want the benifits of marriage but they are not willing to really commit, and when hard times come they want to get out of it rather than work on it 😦 very sad

check out this proclamation issued by the LDS church

This is just one of the many things I love about the LDS members, they care about their families!

  2. I agree with your Steff. Marriage is all about sacrifice, many associate love with gimme gimme, rather giving.

Many LDS members are very family-oriented and I do admire that quality in them. There are also many born-again Christian couples that have been great mentors and examples to me. I’m not married but I will definitely follow their example when I do get married :).

There aren’t any proclamations by our churches to follow but we follow the Scripture, and God is very clear about what marriage is about and how a husband and wife should treat each other.
